I played football and baseball in high school. At the end of my senior year, I weighed 185lbs. I studied pre-medicine biology and completed my BA in Biology at CSUN in 2012. By June 2013, I weighed 255lbs, the heaviest I had ever been. I was scared for my health as my mom, at 60, weighed 270 lbs at her height of 5'5". I knew obesity was in my genes and I wanted to do something about it. I began by running - which in retrospect, was a terrible idea, but I'll get to that later. Since completing high school, I continued to workout for the first year at CSUN, but as classes became more difficult, I spent less time exercising.

I started running and hitting the gym as much as I could. The issue was, the only thing that was consistent was running. I hit the gym great for one month, but quit after I got hurt. Then I started again, and got hurt a few months later. This cycle continued until I weighed myself almost two years later on April 2015 - I weighted 235. I spent two years of stumbling through random YouTube gym workouts, lack of motivation and consistency, and most importantly, lack of proper technique. In those two years, I ultimately only lose 20 pounds.

I decided to change my approach. I turned to P90X. I did that on and off and at my own pace (p90x dictated a 5/6 day training schedule, I only did 3x a week because it was so INTENSE). I weighed myself again and hit 224lbs. I lost a total of 11lbs in one year. I was frustrated and I almost gave up. It wasn't until that summer of '16 that I searched for help. I started learning from trainers and by April 2017 I had hit 200lbs, my lowest since sophomore year in college - 2008.

By February 2019, I weighed again and came in at 195. Today, I'm at 200 and have been fluctuating between 195-200. I've learned that weight loss is EASIER than MAINTAINING, in my opinion. I've tried KETO, PALEO, FASTING, and at this point have come to the realization that if I want to maintain the body that I want while maintaining a pain-free lifestyle, I have to come from a holistic standpoint - an overall approach as opposed to a targeted approach. I used to think you could TARGET one spot of the body and lose fat there, but unfortunately, it's not how that works.

I've been a personal trainer since June 2017. I started at LA Fitness in February '18 and gained a wealth of experience working with clients ages 13 to 85.
